Where have I been?

Well - HAPPILY I announce that after 14 back procedures...I am FINALLY Better.  Nothing in the world could be better than a pain free existence.  I have been doing some stamping here and there so I'm going to make this post all about the pics.  You want details, just let me know. Missed you all and hope you enjoy.

Falling into Fall

A few more cards for the Thanksgiving Holiday!

Details:
Stamps: SU Creative Elements
Punch is the SU Extra Large scallop punch and the Window Punch.
Bling: SU Brad. The two ribbons are from Michaels.

For the main image, I took the flower from the Creative elements set and stamped it three times.  I colored each one with Copics and then cut them out, each one a little smaller than the other.  Then I layered them with Dimensionals.

Doesn't get much cuter than house mouse!

Details:
Stamp: House Mouse
Paper: Papertrey Inc.
The Sentiment was made on my computer.
The Green Leaves are from SU Die Cut.  I cut them out in green and then added some glitter glue to them.

Another House mouse. Essentially the same layout and design But I changed up the Embellishments but that's about it.
I can't stop making scallop circles.  It's easy and fun!

Details:

Stamps: The little pine nut is from SU.  The Harvest stamp is a Digi from McMahon Five Designs.  The Sentiment is from my computer.  I made it...not my computer.  ha ha
To make the scallop circle see steps below.

Steps to making this scallop circle.  Note; you can vary the size of this by how large in width you make your paper.  This one was made with a 1 1/2 inch strip.

1. Cut a strip of paper at 1.5 by 12 inches.  I used Designer two sided paper as you can see both sides.

2. Using the Scallop edge punch (Mine is from SU) cut one side all the way down.

3. Simply accordion fold your paper all the way down.  Then use sticky strip to secure the two ends.

4. I then take a 1.5 inch circle (punched out) and I apply a LOT of sticky strip to the circle and use that to secure the bottom of the scalloped circle.  Once you have glued the two ends you can close the paper together to make your circle.  You will have to secure it, which is done in this pic with the 1.5 circle.  I then do the same for the top but I decorate that one.
Enjoy - have fun and happy stamping!

Giving Thanks

Hands down I am a FALL kind of girl and today's cards are a tribute to that love.  In Atlanta it can still get up in the 70s and today we were treated with a gorgeous, warm, bright and sunny day.  The best part is there are still leaves on to the tree that's right outside my stamp room and they are a glorious burst of vivid blood red...It's absolutely breath-taking.

This whole work week, I wanted nothing more than to sit in my craft room, open the windows and stamp till my hearts content. Today, I achieved that.
Getting out of bed at 9 AM I was blessed with an empty quiet house and a hot pot of yummy coffee, courtesy of my sweet man.  After munching on a granola bar, I turned on my iTunes Genius and began to paint, cut, paste, stamp, color, shade and sponge.  Then I distressed, impressed, punched, sprinkled, twinkled and glued.   Here's what I came up with.   Thanks for Looking.

Details:
I got this cute little Digi Stamp from McMahon Five Designs. It's called the Groucho.
Paper: SU Pumpkin Pie, and Chocolate Chip.  Papertry Inc. for the designer paper, Fine Linen.

I used the SU impressions plate to create the big polka dot background.
*It's hard to see but the cute little turkey's glasses are lacquered so they are shiny.

This is similar to the one above.  I used a few different Nestabilities and I also use the Papertry Inc. die cut for the larges scallop.

This is another digital stamp from McMahon.  I made it for my DM (Darling Man) Mom.

The fun edge is from Papertrey, inc....again.  I just got a huge shipment if you haven't noticed. Their card stock is, hands down, my favorite.

This is a close up of the ribbon on this card. I added some twine and little embellishments of pine nuts.
There is something missing on this but I'm not sure what.  I like the details on the ribbon and flower but the white space is seems vacant. Some Details: Vanilla paper from SU.  The Ribbon (stripped is from SU, which is one of my all time favorite products from them.  I would buy this ribbon in every color and with enough left over that I would always have some on hand.

I made this one with Flower Soft.  Sweet lovely Flower Soft.  I got this paper from Hobby Lobby, which is this rich, thick golden paper.  The tree stamp and sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

The Happy Turkey's from the McMahon
OK last one.  My step-mom, Linda...aka The Wisest Woman Alive.   Oh she's a Bama fan...to vput it mildly. Hence the houndstooth, Crimson,  Black and White.

WOO IS ME - Grab a Drink and have a seat

WARNING WARNING: This is my Woo Is Me blog entry.  Sometimes you just have to get it all out and say BOO HOO...WOO IS ME in order to move on and get over it...SO, Let the Pity Party Begin.

2011 has NOT been a kind year.  Of course it COULD have been worse, but I'm really looking forward to happier times in 2012.   In January of this year I finalized my divorce from my husband.  I know terrible right?  Well, there are certainly worse things to endure and at the end of the day I'm happier out of the marriage but it's been hard.
Women spend so much of their lives looking for love and thinking marriage is the answer and then you get there only to realize it's not all it's cracked up to be.
No one tells you how hard marriage can be, and you know what....It's REALLY REALLY hard. BUT I'm moving on and am confident that all things happen for a reason, or at least that's what I keep telling myself so I keep putting one foot in front of the other.

My Health has also been a constant battle this year. Since I was 15 years old I've always struggled with severe Endometrosis.  After multiple surgeries for that and the inability to have children I finally had the Ablation procedure that completely removes/burns out the uterus.  The plus side - no more monthly visitor.  The down side NO Children ever.  All though this was a slim to none chance for me anyway BUT having the procedure just seems to make it all so finale. Most of the time I'm OK with this.  Some days I'm not.  It's hard to grasp that I will never be a mom.

In addition to dealing with this I've had CONSTANT back issues this year.  I have never before dealt with back problems so I kind of let it go longer than I should have.  I am now recovering from Artificial Disc Replacement surgery.  This is of course after 3 spinal injections, 4 MRIs, countless X-Rays, THOUSANDS of dollars in medical bills and COUNTLESS different trial and errors with medicines that have actually burned my flesh off and cause massive weight gain.  So, now I'm 30 pounds heavier than I've ever been and I'm still not "fixed."
See - I told you this was a pity party, hope you brought a drink.

The icing on the cake is both of my beloved cats died within 6 months of each other and my sweet sweet dog suffered from Vestibular disease.  If you don't know what this is, it's absolutely HORRIBLE to watch your dog go through this.  It's a lot like a seizure or stroke but lasts for days and sometimes never goes away.  From the initial onset of this disease, which required her to be in VET ICU for days, she has gotten better but she's basically almost 100% blind and deaf and fer head is constantly cocked to the side.  I know if she starts to suffer again I will have to do the humane thing, but I'm hoping she stays happy and healthy enough for a little longer.

At any rate - that's my story and unfortunately I have to stick with it.  So, you ask what's the point of my WOO IS ME.  I am hoping by sharing this I can move on.  I need to forgive myself for my weight gain.  I need to realize that things will get better and believe that I can make it through this.  I am praying that I will not live the rest of my life in pain and that this will not consume me.  Here is to happier times and a lot more stamping.

Friday - Yeah it's Friday

I have to admit, this week has been very challenging emotionally and I'm just plain TIRED.  I did get some stamping in last night in an attempt to get my mind off of things.
Here are a few of those little creations.
Rarely and I do mean RARELY do I make cards that are similar but this little mousy was screaming to be used.
Stamps: House Mouse and the sentiment was created on my computer.
Embellishments: Button was given to me by a friend. The ribbon and twine were from Amazon.
Used my Nestie in the big shot for the main image and I colored him with Copics.

It's hard to see but there is this neat (stretchy) head band like ribbon that runs up the middle of both cards.  I took the copper looking seam binding ribbon and wove it through the "groves" of the white stretchy ribbon - turned out pretty cool.
I also took a picture of the inside.  It's one of my goals to start really adding some flair to the inside of my cards.  I usually get so tired by the time I'm done with the front that I just stick a piece of white card stock in there - not this time.

Splitcoast Challenge - Crazy enough today's challenge was to use blocks - I actually made this last night so I guess it's cheating but it works.

The flowers on this came in just white.  There are multiple layers which are hard to see but in total there are 8 petal layers.  To make the color I used re-inkers and crumbled the petals in the color.  I then stamped background text on them in crumbcake so you can't see in the pic but up close it's cute.
The center button is from SU as is the sentiment.
The paper is a Hobby Lobby find.  It's super thick and really sparkly.  I am in love with it.

To Read is to Soar

Here is a fun little bookmark card I made for Splitcoast Stampers Challenge:

I put a couple of pics because it's hard to see everything.

Details:
Stamps: Growing Green and the sentiment was printed on Vellum from my computer

Paper: Designer Paper is Growing Green from SU, Vanilla and Green Galore from SU.

The Ribbons are all from Michael's except the Pear Pizzaz Vanilla trimmed ribbon which is from SU.

Embellishments - all Michael's except the Die Cut butterflies which I made from SU Growing Green and the Butterfly embossing folder.
They were cut out, them I stamped Versa on them and poured clear embossing powder of them.

I did this same technique with the main Book Mark.  I stamped the image, colored it with various Copic markers.  Then I ran it through my big shot in the Square Lattice Embossing floder.  Then I poured clear embossing over the whole thing and melted it to make it shiny and help protect it from use.
Thanks for Looking.

Something New from the Weekend

Well, my sweet man had to go out of town this weekend so I had a glorious ME TIME weekend that involved a LOT of stamping, a LOT MORE cleaning of my stamp room and some good ol' chick flick viewing...of course while I was in my stamp room.  ha ha
Here are a few of my creations:
GNOMES GNOMES and more GNOMES, love these little funny eyed guys.

Stamps: There She Goes
Paper: The White. Black and Sahara Sand are from SU.  The Sea foam top color is from Hobby Lobby.

Details: I first ran the Sea foam card stock through my big shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder from SU. I then stitched it using my sewing machine.
The image was colored using Copics.  I think the chip board was a sale item from Hobby Lobby too.

 My new obsession TULLE

Details:
Paper: Red, White and Black from SU.
Stamps: The Purse is Skipping Stones, The script on the background is SU Charmed set and the Feel Better sentiment is Papertrey Inc.

The Ribbon - Michael's as well as the brad and the Tulle.
To make the flower I simply cut about 12-15 circles out of the Tulle.  I just free handed the cutting as it doesn't have to be perfect.  I then pinned them all together with the brad and held the whole flower over a candle (open flame) and turned it around as to NOT burn the material. Warning - this stuff will BURN FAST.
What happens is the material kind of melts and shrinks.  Totally fun.
The gems (little diamonds) I added with a bit of glue. Easy!

Mo's Digi stamps are the best.

I got this little Nurse from her site: MOS.  I made the little tulle flower the same way as the one above.

Paper is DP from Hobby Lobby as is the Pink.
The sentiment is some really old clear stamp that I have no idea where it came from.
Colored the cute little nurse with Copics.
 Details:

Paper: Yo Yo Yellow, black and white all from SU.
Embellishments are all from Michael's.
Stamps: Elements of Style and Blooming Beautiful. The Hello is a There She Goes Sentiment.

Seriously - I love these Daisy's.  I don't often love my cards.  BUT I love the colors on this and the centers were so fun to make.
Details: Papers are all pink shades from Hobby Lobby.
The Ribbon is seam binding that I got off Amazon.

Stamps: Daisy is from There She Goes and the sentiment is Papertrey Inc.

For the center of the flowers, after I colored with Copics and colored pencils I added gems and glitter to make them really dimensional and chunky looking.  They were FUN!  ha ha
Thanks for Looking!

Finding My Groove

Life has been so weird lately.  Ever have those stretches of time where you feel like your leading someone Else's life?  That's kind of where I am right now.  I swear the Talking Heads Song: Once in a Life Time is running through my head...."And You may ask yourself, where does this highway lead?"

Anyway, the good thing is there is always one place I can go to give my mind a rest.  To put work, stress and all the other things I might want to avoid behind me, at least for a little bit... My Stamp Room.  I love crafting.  It creates such a calmness in me.  I can go in there and come out a new woman, OK - maybe not a NEW woman but a calmer happier one!  Here are a few of my latest.

The Rachel Zoe Card. - I'm currently obsessed with Rachel Zoe show and she is always saying in this really annoying Valley Girl way, "That's Ba-Nan-Nas"....so I had to make a card for one of my friends who shares this obsession.  It's kind of cute.

Details:
Paper: Daffodil Delight which I ran through my Big Shot using SU Texturz Plates, Black, White and some Designer Paper I got from Karen Foster Designs.

Sentiment and Bananas - The bananas were some free clip art I found online and the Sentiment I created on my computer using Word Art.

Ribbon - Standard Michael's "find".

This is a little thank you I made for a friend.  Love creating cards that are Black and White (or in this case Vanilla) with pops of red.

Details:
Paper: SU Designer Paper from 2010 that's no longer available...I know sad right?
Stamps: Sweet Pea from There She Goes - LOVE.
Copic Markers were used to color. The Ribbon is Seam Binding that I bought from Amazon and the cute brad is another
Karen Foster Design find.

Not Sure I like this one, which is why I created another Thank You instead (one above.)

Details:
Paper: SU Paper from 2010 (again no longer available.)
Crumb Cake, Vanilla and Baja Breeze.
Stamp: Thanks from SU
Gem Swirl was bought at Hobby Lobby.
Stamping on designer paper is something that I see a lot and love but never accomplish it in a way that I like.  However, I was pleased with this one.

Details:
Paper: SU Rose Red, Black, White and Designer Paper that was from last year, but IS similar to the new Newsprint available in the 2012 catalog.

Used a new Nestie Fancy Label Die and then the stamps on the frame are There She Goes Sweet Pea (Sentiment is from another set.)

HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR DAY!
